# Group wishlist maker — share one link

A group wishlist is a shared wishlist: everyone's gift lists in one place, behind one link. With GiftMyCrew, each person adds up to 30 ideas from any store, and anyone can mark an item as bought so nobody doubles up. The person whose list it is never sees those marks. There's no draw, no account and no email.

## How to set up a group wishlist

1. **Choose Group wishlists.** Give the group a name, such as "Garcia family Christmas", and add everyone taking part.
2. **Share the group link.** Send one link to the family or friends chat. There's nothing for anyone to install or sign up for.
3. **Everyone adds their list.** Each person taps their name, sets a 4-digit PIN and adds up to 30 ideas. Paste a product link from any store, Amazon included, or type an idea; most stores' links fill in the name and photo.
4. **Shop from each other's lists.** Open anyone's list, buy something and mark it as bought. Everyone else sees it's taken; the person it's for doesn't.

## How is a group wishlist different from Secret Santa?

Secret Santa gives each person one secret match to buy for. A group wishlist has no draw: everyone can see everyone else's list and buy for whoever they like.

That suits families and friend groups where people buy for several others, such as grandparents buying for every grandchild or siblings who all buy for each other. If your group wants the surprise of a secret match, use a Secret Santa draw instead; it includes wishlists too.

## Who can see what in a group wishlist?

Everyone in the group sees every list and which items are already bought. That's what stops two cousins buying the same thing.

- On other people's lists, you see every idea and whether it's been bought.
- On your own list, you see your ideas but not what's been bought, so gifts stay a surprise.
- Nobody sees who bought an item. A mark says it's taken, not who took it.
- Only the person who marked an item can undo it: from their own link on any of their devices, or, if they marked it from a friends' link, from that same browser.

## Can I add my kids' lists to the family group?

Yes. Add each child as a person in the group and fill in their list from their link. Because you're a separate person in the group, you can see what's been bought from your child's list, which a personal wishlist wouldn't show you. That makes it easy to spot what's still needed before the big day.

## How long does a group wishlist last?

As long as it's in use. A group is deleted after 90 days with no activity (or 30 days after the event date, if that's later), and any change resets that clock: someone adding an idea, editing a note or marking a gift as bought. During the run-up to a holiday that happens all the time, so the group stays put.

Once the occasion has passed and everyone goes quiet, it's deleted automatically, with nothing to close down. For next year, start a fresh group; it takes a minute and everyone's lists start clean.

## When is a group wishlist the right tool?

Use it whenever several people buy for several others: a family Christmas, siblings' birthdays close together, or friends who want to swap ideas without a formal exchange. For one person's list, such as your own birthday, a personal wishlist is simpler; for one secret match each, run a Secret Santa draw.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can people avoid buying the same gift?

Yes. Anyone viewing a list can mark an item as purchased. That mark is hidden from the list's owner, so the surprise is preserved while duplicates are prevented.

### Do I need an account?

No. Add names, share the link, and everyone builds their list in the browser. No email, no password, and lists auto-purge after 90 days of inactivity, or 30 days after the event date, if that's later.

### How many people can be in one group?

Up to 100 people, each with up to 30 ideas on their list.

### Can someone join the group later?

Yes. Whoever created the group can add a name afterwards from the organizer page, under "Forgot someone? Add them". The new person appears on the same group link and joins like everyone else.

### Can two people split one gift?

Yes, though the list only records that an item is taken. Agree between you who marks it as bought, so the rest of the group knows it's covered.
